Academy Success Stories

At Elite Football Academy we are driven by success, but success is measured in many different ways with players being offered trials, being invited to play and represent pro teams in friendly matches, signing contracts, and going off to university having passed the BTEC courses.

There are many other academies in the UK but the thing that sets Elite Football Academy apart from the rest is the frequency that we play against teams like Norwich City, West Ham, Millwall FC, Stevenage FC, MK Dons, Peterborough United, Leyton Orient, Luton Town FC, Cambridge Utd, Histon FC, Kettering Town FC, Rushden and Diamonds, Boreham Wood, Lincoln City, Boston Utd.  We also have coaches visiting us from a variety of clubs too, meaning our players are always seen on every single course. Maximum preparation, and maximum opportunity.  Here are a few of our success stories:

Pelayo Gomez, 19 Spain - Midfield

Pelayo had originally signed for Brentford FC thanks to the hard work of Elite Football Academy Director Craig Mander, who had worked with the young Spanish maestro since the age of 11 in Marbella Spain.  Due to an ankle inury Pelayo didnt make first team at Brentford so he came to Elite Football Academy and played in just one match vs Histon FC which was watched by first team manager David Livermore.  He was immediately impressed and offered Pelayo a deal to play for the first team for the rest of the season.  Pelayo was a regular in the Histon senior squad making 26 appearances and scoring twice in the Conference North and played a pivotal role in keeping the team safe from relegation.   As a result this helped us forge strong relations with Histon FC which has seen several other players signing for them.

Pelayo is now studying at university and playing for Carshalton Athletic. We wish him every success in his football career and take an active interest in his progress.

Luis McCoy - 18 - UK - Midfield

Luis also featured in the match against Histon FC and impressed head of youth Brian Page. After a series of trial games and a couple of weeks at training he was offered a 3 year scholarship.  Luis has been a prominent part of the Histon squad for the last year and a half and had the opportunity to play against Liverpool FC last season in the FA Youth Cup in a mouth watering match.   Luis was also part of the academy in Spain under the stewardship of Academy Director Craig Mander, who spotted Luis talent at an early age. Luis has been on trials at Norwich City, Peterborough United and Leyton Orient and is has this season signed forms for the First team at Histon.  We are all very proud of Luis at the academy and he is an inspiration to the younger players coming through.

Alex Metcalfe, 17 - UK - Midfield

Alex came to Elite Football Academy as a scholar playing for Bradford City in League 2.  He played matches against MK Dons & Stevenage and subsequently went on trials with Stevenage FC where he played in a match and for Millwall where he was offered a deal.  As he was unable to relocate to London, Elite Football Academy organised further trials for Alex at Leyton Orient and Peterborough United who also were interested in signing the creative midfield general.  Alex now plays in the Conference and was a pleasure to work with and if he works hard will make a great professional footballer. We wish him every success in the future.

Dovy Kairys, 16 - Lithuania

Dovy has played in a number of matches for Elite Football Academy and impressed in every single one of them.  He has been offered deals with Milwall FC but recently decided to sign for Luton Town FC in the Conference Premier Division.

Dovy is a young, talented left footed player that can play at left back, left mid or as a floating attacking midfielder and his creativity and ability to run at people make him the ideal academy player.   We will continue to work with Dovy to ensure he gets the most out of his football career and wish him every success with Luton Town for the coming season.

Matt Spencer - 17 - Vietnam

Matt Spencer-Harty was originally from the UK but moved Vietnam with his family. He came to us as a midfielder, but is a very natural right back or centre back who has worked very hard at his game and was rewarded with a scholarship at Histon FC.  Matt spent a full year at Elite Football Academy and studied on the BTEC level 3 diploma, which he passed with a Merit grade.

Matt is tough in the tackle but a quiet and shy person off the pitch, if not a little bit cheeky.  He was hard to work with at times, but matured into a good footballer that got his head down and really developed his game with the help of the Elite coaches at the academy.   His family were very proud of his achievments and commented how much he had grown up whilst with us.  Matt is proof that anyone can make it if they work hard, and we wish him well with whatever he decideds to do in the future.

Clint Disemelo - 18 - UK

Clint is a pacy winger that has played already at a few clubs such as Stevenage.  Cousin of Man Utds Ashley Young, Clint has featured in a number of matches for Elite Football Academy and has brought some class and finess to our side when needed.  Clint stood out in matches against MK Dons & Histon and was rewarded for his performances with a scholarship from Histon FC, where he played for the remainder of last season.

Clint is a small lad, so might struggle to play at a really high level, but we hope with guidance from Brian Page at Histon who is now the first team manager, he will have an opportunity to break into the first team this season.

Tom Murphy - 18 - Australia

Tom has had two stints at Elite Football Academy after picking up a niggling ankle injury in his first visit. Very creative and tough tackling midfielder with great vision. Tom has been playing in the A League in Australia since returning home.

George Chomakov - 21 - USA

George was captain of the Elite Academy team during his stay. He has since signed for Detroit City in the USA and we wish him all the very best in his football career.

Hadi Rhida - 19 - Finland

Hadi has signed for TPS in Finland after a long stint at Elite Football Academy.

Other success stories of note include:

- Jamie Fyffe - Played for Ketting Town FC in the Evostick Premier Division in the 2013 season

- Vik Chaabra - Played in goal for Cambridge United 3 times last season

- Alie Shour - Went on trial to several clubs including Kettering Town & Portsmouth FC

- Hayden Morrison - due to return to sign for Histon FC
